Dr. Calvin Or is an Associate Professor and Assistant Head of the Department of Data and Systems Engineering at The University of Hong Kong. He obtained his PhD degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His research focuses on human-machine-system interaction, user-centered study, and health data analytics, as applied to health information technology design and implementation for patient safety and health. Dr. Or also innovates research methodology. Specifically, he has designed, adapted, and implemented both qualitative and quantitative study approaches and frameworks, tools for evaluating interventions (e.g., acceptance and usability assessment instruments and techniques), and processes for patient and healthcare provider co-creation. Dr. Or’s research has contributed to a knowledge base that helps create potential pathways to safe, high-quality health care. Dr. Or is an Honorary Advisor for the Department of Quality and Safety of the New Territories East Cluster of the Hong Kong Hospital Authority. He is a former President of the Hong Kong Ergonomics Society. He currently serves the Applied Ergonomics journal as a Scientific Editor and PLOS Digital Health as a Section Editor for the "Telehealth and mHealth" section.
